The project arises from the desire of the Valle del Tiétar in Transition Platform to draw up a Renovation Strategy for the housing stock in the Tiétar Valley, based on a broad and diverse vision in terms of the possible solutions offered according to the available resources, and in terms of their integration with the rest of the valley’s activities, especially the most dynamic or those that offer the greatest opportunities, such as rural tourism, forestry, agriculture and livestock farming, among others.
The main objective is to determine the feasibility of coupling the demands for materials and resources to produce sustainable habitability in the Tiétar Valley, considering the renovation strategy of the housing stock and the demands for materials that this strategy would generate, ensuring that this demand could be satisfied with the production of this territory.
At methodological level, the study is structured in two parts: the first part is diagnostic and the second part is propositional.
The diagnosis focuses on the analysis and architectural, energy and economic characterisation of residential buildings in the Tiétar Valley. It also defines the criteria that will enable the strategy’s progress to be optimised, such as intervention priorities, economic efficiency and overall energy efficiency; criteria also linked to the different levels of aid for renovation.
Next, in order to promote the dynamisation of the Valley, an inventory of local resources that can be used in energy renovation solutions is defined; an inventory that allows for a diagnosis of self-sufficiency for the renovation of the Valley, as a balance between the total demand and the current local supply of these materials and renovation systems; as well as the potential for development of the local materials and systems sector based on the renovation forecasts.
The second part, of a propositional nature, contains the conclusions, with special mention of the potential for improving the Valley’s housing stock within a dynamic of promoting local resources and industry.
Finally, a series of reflections on the three areas of work of the project -renovation, resources, industry- are set out, which should be taken into account and developed in order to continue a project which, as this report has shown, is of interest and feasibility.
