Support to neighborhood communities to promote renovation

Proposal

The project is an accompaniment to the neighborhood communities of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat to promote energy renovation and improve the energy culture of citizens, taking advantage of the opportunity offered by the Next Generation Funds in energy renovation.

Objectives

The main objective of the project is to promote energy renovations taking advantage of the current Next Generation Funds, providing communities with tools in order to better understand the building itself and community management tools reach the necessary agreements to carry out the rehabilitations.

The specific objectives of the service are as follows:

  • Achieve adequate living and health conditions (functional, accessibility and thermal)
  • Increase the level of social awareness to motivate the realization of energy renovations of buildings
  • Provide tools to involve neighborhood communities in the development of energy renovation of buildings
  • Learn efficient daily habits at home

Approach

The framework was born from the “Hard-to-reach Energy Users” project of the International Energy Agency, which aims to identify, define and prioritize the HTR (Hard-to-Reach) public, and design, measure and share effective strategies to involve those public to achieve energy, demand response and climate objectives, in addition to meeting the needs of access to energy and social and environmental equity.

From this perspective, the theoretical model used for the development of the definition, content and tools of the project has used the conceptual framework of “Energy Cultures” designed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers from different fields such as physics, economics, law, psychology and sociology (Stephenson, J. (2010). Energy Cultures: A framework for understanding energy behaviours). , which puts people at the centre.

Results

The project consists of several actions:

  • A training program structured in a didactic sequence of different modules on energy efficiency in buildings, access to financial aid and the management of neighborhood communities.
  • Personalized reports to the participating communities with the study of the current state of the participating buildings and their potential for improvement in energy efficiency, including the economic cost and profitability of the intervention, in order to be able to take advantage of the Next Generation Funds for renovation in time.
  • Meetings in the neighborhood communities of the participants, in order to transfer the knowledge acquired and facilitate agreements to the communities.
  • Access to participants in the  culturesenergetiques.cat  platform developed by the Cíclica team within the framework of the same Singulares project.
